Observation
0165(2)(d) during the visit, licensor observed large trash bags and grocery bags stored in an unlocked kitchen cabinet and pantry accesible to children. 0165(3)(d) during the visit, licensor observed the laundry room and garage door were not locked making the area accessible to the children the front load washer and deep freezer a possible entrapment. 0165(4)(b) during the visit, licensor observed the window in the main childcare space to be missing a screen. The window is within the reach of children and opens fully at 2.5'. 0165(5)(a) during the visit, licensor observed 6 outlets in the front licensed childcare space to not be tamper resistant. There were visible signs of playdough. The outlet to the left of the refrigerator was not tamper resistant. Outlets within 6' of the kitchen sink were not GFCI. Dispute Description: 0165(3)(d)Firstoff, it’s not a garage, this room has been converted and is a very large and clean room as well as a living space, it’s a private place and the licensor who isn’t even my main licensor had already checked the bathroom which is linked and connected to my converted room/living space. This converted room was locked and it was never opened because it has nothing to do with the daycare. When the licensor checked the bathroom she locked herself inside and came out after a little period of time. The licensor then went back into the bathroom and unlocked and opened the door to my private room, my assistants then followed her and told the licensor that this room was a private area and that she needed to leave. This room has absolutely nothing to do with the childcare itself, it’s a living space that i converted through king county. I was thinking for the future to possibly expand my childcare into this room when the cornona virus hit but that time has not come and it’s been a locked and private area. She didn’t stop there, she asked my assistants so many questions about this private room that they shouldn’t have been asked. My assistants told the licensors that the room was not apart of the childcare and they were not supposed to be in there at all in the first place, the licensor asked my assistants about the dishes that were there, then the freezer which she opened and said is a possible child entrapment which is not associated with the childcare at all. All these questions made my assistants anxious because they didn’t know what to do with this situation. I want to ask the licensor who is not assigned to me that entered my private room and intimidated my assistants that’s not apart of the childcare and is private to please if she comes to my property or childcare again she can come and observe with my main licensor because what happened here is completely unacceptable, she attempted to scare my assistants and i’m not there to protect them. I’ve been in this business for 13 years now and this has never happened to me. After the licensor left the converted room she told the assistant that it’s good that this room has a lock. I have 3 eye witnesses in the facility, she was never allowed in this room, it is not apart of the childcare environment. During this time my main licensor didn’t even inspect anything that i’ve talked about above, she’s never been there, all this information comes from the licensor that she came with. When the licensors came it was around 12:30-12:40, during this time its the scheduled nap time, during this time one of my assistants is assigned for cleanup in the laundry room. And this the time that the licensors came into the childcare environment and was why the laundry room was unlocked in that moment. I’m now hiring someone to install and fix all the window screens. The licensor observed that there are cleaning supplies in the kitchen cabinets, there are absolutely zero cleaning supplies in any of the kitchen cabinets. 0165(5)(a) All the outlets in the childcare area are child resistant outlets that i had professionally installed and there are more than 4 licensors that have passed these outlets and had said that they are good for WAC regulations, last year when i converted these outlets with the plastic plugs my licensor told me to remove these plugs because they are choking hazards, but at the end of the day these outlets are child/tamper resistant that have been reviewed by multiple other licensors.
